TESTIMONIALS
We love to hear about our pups from the people who know them best. It is exciting to see them happy and obviously well loved. Some of these comments came unsolicited and have been treasured for years. Then, when we started working on this web site, we asked owners to write a line or two telling about life with their Havanese, keeping in mind what someone considering the breed might want to know.
We hope you enjoy the comments as much as we do.
Lexi is just over a year old. She is the best pup we have ever had. Very smart and healthy. We live in Sanford, FL. Lexi gets along with all animals and loves everyone in the house equally. (Our maltese we had previously, was more of a 1 woman dog) She will hear us drive up to the house and is at the door ready to greet us when we come in. Lexi was easily potty trained and can sit, stay, roll-over, hugs, high five, lay down, speak. Her favorite game is hide and seek. Our 2 daughters hide and we say “where are the girls?” Lexi runs all over the house to find them! When she does, she sits and speaks until they come out! She finds them in closets, tubs, laundry room and even under their beds. She has been around a ton of other animals from Ferrets, to cats, goats, and chickens. Nothing bothers her. She goes everywhere with us. We have only left her 1 time and that’s because we were going on a cruise and they won’t allow any animals. She loves the boat. We camp on it and she thinks she is the queen. I am working on getting some more pictures together to show you. We often talk about getting another baby from you.
Oliver moves so fast it's hard to get good pictures. At least you can see how his colors have changed, and that he gets lots of hugs. The children do occasionally let him walk on the floor.

I wanted to email some photos of Chloe. She probably weighs about 10 lbs. now. She is curious about everything. Nothing gets by her. She looks at all the birds, airplanes, anyone walking by. And don’t leave anything out or she’ll be into it in no time. She loves to sleep on her back – it’s such a riot. She and Ozzie are great friends. Ozzie has tolerated her playful puppy stage quite well. Sometimes he lays down the law, but for the most part Chloe rules the roost. She tries to get Ozzie to play by biting on his puffs, beard and tail. She literally drags him across the floor. They run through the house. When they cross paths, one leaps over the other. All you hear is the scampering of puppy feet. Chloe is Momma’s girl and Ozzie is Daddy’s boy. Chloe discovered her growl around Christmas time, so now that’s her mode of communication. She growls about everything. Always has to have the last word. Tennessee
Please find attached the latest pictures of Zeus and Athena. They are truly members of our family. We can't watch TV without them on the back of the couch. They shout for joy everytime we come into the house after we've been out...doesn't matter if its 5 minutes or two hours. Zeus has an interesting personality...loves to play and very trainable. Constantly jealous of Athena for attention from my wife Mariann. Zeus bonded well with everyone but seems very tight with my eldest son Ethan. Ethan had his wisdom teeth out 2 years ago. Zeus never left his side, while he iced his jaw and recovered on the couch for 3 days. Athena remains our "love bunny" absolutely loves Mariann. A pet psychic told us she "relaxes" and feels all is right in the house when Mariann is around. She's filled out well, and has an interesting habit of swatting us with her paws from the back of the couch when she wants to play or be rubbed. Southpark, PA

Bachi seems to be the perfect dog...the perfect companion! Everyone who knows her thinks this is true and loves her. They all think, as I do, that she is the most wonderful dog they have ever met!
She is so lively and active and alert...and so intuitive. She anticipates what will happen and behaves appropriately. She loves people but will settle down when told to do so. Bachi is genuinely happy with an outgoing personality all her own. She is quick to learn, and very obedient without losing her great personality. I think she likes me being the "big dog" of her pack.
She enjoys structure and easily falls into her daily routine. She never begs to go with me...although there is nothing she likes better...but when I tell her "By-By", she knows I'm saying good-by to her and that she isn't going on this trip. So she goes to her bed to lie down and take a nap. But if I tell her she can go..."Let's go"...she is thrilled and ready to bound out the door with me, going straight to the car. I can take her out in the yard for bathroom breaks without a leash, and she will go "Potty" on command, and come right back in the house when finished. If I trained her for walks, she would never need a leash, but I always keep her on one for her walks since it's safer that way. And she does have an independent streak now and then and likes to push her limits to keep me on my toes. I love her reassuring little nose taps on my leg as she walks by, letting me know she is there and reminding me not to forget her.
She always has her eye on me, even from her bed...and is a wonderful watch dog all night long. She sleeps on the foot of my bed and lets me know if there is the slightest movement outside. She is fiercely protective, but as soon as I tell her it's OK, she wags her tail and goes up to the stranger to be petted. She loves to let people know that it's her house and her yard and they don't belong there unless her Mom has given permission.
She understands that people food is not her food and never begs for food...but when I eat, she will go to her bowl and have dinner too. She likes me to be around when she eats...makes it a social occasion for her. Bachi freely tells me what she wants and when by coming over to me and putting her paw on me, and looking directly and expectantly at me and waiting for my response. If I don't respond, she will "talk" to me to tell me she needs something. Often it's to go out, sometimes it's fresh water.
Bachi has such a strong yet agreeable personality that it's easy to miss her when you are away from her. She is a total part of any daily routine and fits into a family perfectly as I'm sure all Havanese do. I have had many types of dogs in my life, and cannot imagine being without my Havanese! Undoubtably the best disposition, smartest, most fun and most loving dog I have ever had.
I do have some photos of Bachi on boat trips with friends of ours and their yellow lab. She is a great boat dog...loves to run all over the boat (one is a 40 ft and one is a 60 ft), and sit up by the Captain's chair to help steer...and watch what's happening. She has no real fear of new things, but isn't recklessly fearless. She is smart enough to have a healthy respect for things she is uncertain of. She does not like the steep steps of the boat and is very cautious around them. And she even swims with the big dogs when she needs to...such a spunky little girl.
Bachi loves car trips with me and is very well behaved in the car, although she does prefer to sit next to me...just so she is touching me in some way. If I could, I'd have more Havanese...they are a spectacular breed. However Bachi is quite enough for me at this point.
The place that has the Havanese get-together's is called "Korbie's Den"...and it is a doggie boutique here in Naples. I will try to remember to have your email address added to their email list so when they send out the notices, you will automatically receive one. It's a charming little place with all kinds of fresh baked treats, and items for dogs and cats, plus decorative items with an animal theme too. Naples, FL

Bogey's obedience training is going well. He is doing very well on his bell ringing and extremely good on potty. He tends to just go sit by the door to go out but sometimes he will ring the bell probably just to watch us respond after he has just gone. However, he has done another business after going back out again---after that he's messing with me:):) The crate training is the most FABULOUS thing ever!!!!!!! He just runs in even when I haven't said anything now-----if we go to the door and set the alarm he comes tearing around the corner and leaps in bed-----we are absolutely amazed!!!!!!He had his first long trip since coming home on the 5th----we took him to the beach in Palm Coast------WOW was he good there. It was a different experience since we had to go down an elevator 6 floors to potty but never had an accident. In fact after the potty and the return trip to the 6th floor he would lead us out, around the corner and directly to the condo door-----UNBELIEVABLE-----what a smart dog!!!!It was extremely windy and unfortunately the red tide was there so we did not spend any time on the beach----we took him down on Sunday afternoon for about 5 min-----even that was too long-----he started sneezing and we were coughing and hacking ourselves-----not a good time:( It was hard to even be on the patio for long but he did get a kick out of looking around and feeling the breeze. He still has a toe fetish as well----trying to break him of that since it makes for a difficult time walking----to say the least------he goes to his room when he gets really reprimanded and pouts:) continue to give you all the credit when someone asks about how he does with crate training-----it's ALL the breeder----most of the people just look at you because they did not get them from breeders----it does make a difference----especially a good breeder:):) Sarasota, FL
Max did not cry his first night, and sleeps from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, and again until 5:30 am. Everyone that meets Max says that he is absolutely the cutest puppy they have ever seen, and would steal him if they had the chanDarlene and I totally and completely love dear little "Tuxedo" Max, and I have a very difficult time being away from him.He still smells as sweet as baby powder, hair as soft as silk, has spunk, and I worry about him all the time. I have never loved a pet so much (and I was a big dog guy). I would do anything for dear little Max. (I am not sure that even our chipmunks are afraid of him)hanks for the wonderful puppy - please whisper to Mom Rosa that we will do our very best for her little son, and we send her many hugs and kisses. Maybe it was only a litter of one puppy - but what a sweetie. Schamburg. IL
Sophie is doing great. She was spayed last Monday and is back to her playful self. I will get the certificate in the mail to you tomorrow. We really enjoy Sophie so much. She is a great addition to our family. This is a picture of her after her first haircut.
Hi Debbie, I thought you might like to see me in my new home. I feel right at home already. This is one of my new toys. It is a squeaky strawberry, and a lot of fun. I played so hard, I got tired so needed to rest a little bit. Boy was I glad to get out of that carrier. That was a long ride, but I made it just fine. I wasn't too sure about the nice lady that was there to get me, but not any more. She's great. I follow her everywhere, staying right at her feet wherever she goes. She moves around a lot, so sometimes I get tired and have to take a little nap.
You are going to be very proud of me. I didn't even wet on the newspapers in the carrier, but didn't want to go when she took me outside at the airport. She took me out a few times during the evening, but I just didn't want to go. There's a lot of leaves on the ground, and I don't like leaves. (a man is coming Monday to rake them up) Anyway, we went to bed. That was fun. I got to seep right next to her. When we got up this morning she took me outside again, but, you know, LEAVES. I could tell she looked worried when we came back in. In a little while she went into the bathroom, and all at once I really needed to wet, so ran right over to a pad that was in front of the cat's litter box and wet a lot. It had been a long time. She was so happy and bragged and bragged on me. Just as she put a clean pad down I thought, I need to do something else, so I looked around, and then ran over to the pad, made my circles, and had a BM. She bragged and bragged some more, and I got a treat. I think these pads are going to work out fine.
Well, I just wanted to let you know I miss you, but this is a nice place, and I can tell she already loves me a lot. I'm eating real good, and drinking lots of water, so don't worry about me. I think I'm going to be just fine. Reggie (that's my new name) P.S. She told me to tell you, thank you for making it possible for her to get such an incredible creature, whatever that means.
Thought you would like to see Teddy in some of his various outfits, one ready for bed in PJ’s and the other in his Polo shirt for Easter. He is still the best dog we have EVER owned!!! Love love love him..Canton, GA
